Monkeying Around

November 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Two weeks ago I had a blast photographing a very sweet family of monkeys – I mean people – at a local park in Seattle. We frolicked, climbed trees and ate bananas, just like a bunch of monkeys. Alright fine, there weren’t any bananas, but we did spend an unusual amount of time scooting up the trunks of trees and dangling from branches. Zach and Nick are two amazing kids; sweet, polite and full of little boy zeal.

Thanks for a wonderful day in the park, guys. I hope you had as much fun as I did!

Baby Bridget

September 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

She’s precious, beautiful and totally silly. Little Bridget made quite the protest against having her photo taken, but I was determined to capture the curious, gleeful girl trapped inside her fussy, weeping exterior; even if it meant that her mom and I would fill the house with high-pitched baby talk for two hours. And it looks like we pulled it off, because these photos are undeniably cute and slightly addictive.

Cake and a crush

September 11, 2008 · 3 Comments

There are few things in this world as joyful and hilarious as a boy on his very first birthday.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you…

Carter Madigan

He’s one! And in my opinion, the best thing since sliced bread.

No first birthday is complete without a three-legged race.

Sometimes baby love is expressed in the form of a cheek slobbering.

Carter has a way with the ladies.

And his way is to chase them down with a hug on deck.

And to shower them with gifts…

Then it was time for birthday cake…

One year old style…

Which sometimes requires a little hosing off.

Next up, A CLOWN! He had all sorts of tricks up his sleeve…

Oops! Looks like somebody might have a slight case of coulrophobia…

But then the clown made him a balloon hat, so now they’re cool.

Happy Birthday, Carter! I’ll chase balloons in the park with you anytime, buddy!

This is what happens when you give a one year old his very own birthday cake.

You get a little frosting between your toes. Like that’s a bad thing…

Sneak Peek ~ baby Oxani

July 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Remember this post? Beautiful baby Oxani (pronounced Oshani) was preparing for his debut in that gorgeous belly of hers. And I’m so excited to share his sweet face with the world. He loved the sound of my shutter, so we locked eyes over and over again. His big brown eyes and juicy little baby lips are enough to make you weak in the knees.

More photos from our session are coming soon, so stay tuned.

For now, here is a sneak peek.

One of a kind beautiful

July 3, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m so excited to finally share the following images. We started off together at Seward Park for a few family shots and finished up back at home, for a one-on-one maternity session. These are the kinds of experiences that make me so grateful to have a place behind the camera. It allows me to meet amazing people, to capture a special connection between them and to reveal their inner selves swirling to the surface. This family is one of a kind beautiful and I’m proud to share a glimpse of them with you.

Psst. That little belly of hers had a tiny baby boy inside. And soon after he was born, my camera and I headed back over for more. So stay tuned for little Oxani’s debut!

Sweet Nostalgia

June 27, 2008 · 1 Comment

That golden summer feeling. It’s so fleeting here in the Northwest, but I’m almost certain that today – I’ve got it. And after sifting through hundreds of images from my recent session with a very special family, I’m pretty certain that beautiful Saiyana’s got it too.  Oh, to be a kid in the summertime…

My sweet nostalgia is made with one part barefeet in fresh cut grass, two parts carefree exuberance. Saiyana’s is one part wings of pink, two parts pigtails. What’s yours made of?

The Ice Cream Series

April 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A little while back, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a girl named Sophia. There are three things you should know about her.

1. She is really shy when you first meet her.

2. All shyness is out the window the minute you introduce ice cream.

3. She happens to be a very talented (and serious) ice cream scooper.

Who knew. The window to a soul is a perfect bowl of ice cream. Maybe this is a universal tactic for those under 5, but I happen to think she’s very special.

You can eat ice cream with me anytime, cutie. I’ll bring the spoons. You do the scoopin’.
